Dr
Phil Kelly (DBA, MBA, MA, BSc (Hons), SFHEA, CFIRM), formerly advisor to Asia's highest paid CEO, worked for over 20 companies in almost as many countries prior to becoming a Reader in Management at
Liverpool Business School (LBS).
A
Management Consultant in the 1990’s he established two successful global consultancy firms having previously held management roles in Telecomms and the Post Office. Prior to that, he worked in one of
England’s largest Police Forces.
Following a career in consultancy and
having completed his Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), at one of Europe's leading business schools, he went on to teach at a range of Universities. An experienced lecturer, he has an MA
(distinction) in teaching and learning in Higher Education and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). In 2012 the Vice Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University presented
Phil with an excellence award in recognition of distinction in teaching.
Along this journey, Phil has written
nine books, 'Management Theory and Practice' 8ed, published in 2015, is a globally-known text utilised on numerous management courses and degree programmes. In 2009 he wrote 'International Business
and Management' and in 2013, 'the Business Environment' all published by Cengage.
Presently, Phil is the Programme Leader
for the MSc in Management and Digital Business and teaches management on a variety of postgraduate business and management degree programmes along with various undergraduate programmes at LBS. He
also has a keen interest in management information systems, developing databases amongst other business systems.
Research active, he has supervised
several PhD completions and is presently supervising. Externally, he is a Principal Examiner with the Institute of Risk Management (IRM). Phil has recently written a book chapter for the Routledge
Companion to Risk, Crisis and Security in Business (published 2019) and wrote the latest edition of the ICSA book 'Business Management in Practice' published early in 2017. He has just finished
writing the 9th Edition of his best-selling Management text book published early 2020.
